Fr. Kevin Shemuga
Father Kevin C. Shemuga was appointed pastor of OLG on March 1, 2016 and was installed as pastor on June 25, 2016 by Bishop Richard Lennon. Father Kevin was ordained a priest in 1983 and has served in several parishes in the Diocese of Cleveland. He comes to Our Lady of Guadalupe with an enriched experience that includes ministry to the Bereaved, spiritual director/confessor to many priests, deacons and laity, and devoted to the care of our young people and the sick.
He received his academic degrees from Borromeo Seminary College (BA), St. Mary Seminary (M. Div.) and John Carroll University (MA). He is presently pursuing a Doctorate in Ministry from St. Mary Seminary in Wickliffe, Ohio to be completed in 2018.
Father Kevin enjoys music, the arts, reading, walking, and golf. He manages and plays baseball in the Roy Hobbs Adult League in Akron, Ohio. His mother, Pat, resides in Barberton, Ohio. He is the oldest of three children. His sister, Kim, and his brother, Kirk, also reside in Barberton.
His motto is taken from the Confessions of Saint Augustine: “For you, God, have made us for Yourself, and, our hearts are restless until they rest in You.”
Deacon Dave Govern
Deacon David Govern is the son of founding parishioners Len and Helen Govern and has been a parishioner at Our Lady of Guadalupe since its inception in 1967. He has been married to his wife Elaine since November 26, 1983. Elaine and Dave have four children, Jeffrey (Beth), Steven, Emily (Mike) and Becky. They have one grandchild, Lily.
Dave was ordained as a Permanent Deacon in the Diocese of Cleveland on May 2, 2009 by Bishop Richard Lennon.
Deacon Dave officiates at weddings in the Catholic Church, performs infant baptisms, performs wake services and officiates at other funeral liturgies. He assists the priest at Sunday liturgies and preaches at mass on a regular basis. He visits the sick and officiates at various public prayer services.
He has a passion for sports; in particular, Cleveland sports teams. Elaine and Dave possess a love of animals and have various dogs, cats, chickens and fish at their house in Macedonia.
Mrs. Nancy Freibott
Nancy Freibott, and her husband Roger, have been members of OLG since 1970. In June 1994, Nancy has served as Pastoral Minister. She facilitates Adult Education and Sacramental programs. She coordinates the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), the Adult Scripture study program and Adult Confirmation. Other Pastoral responsibilities include: bringing Eucharist to the sick and homebound, coordinating the Adult Catechesis and Speakers Series, and is a member of the Spiritual Life Committee.
Mrs. Katie Drager
Katie Drager joined the OLG staff in June of 2015. She comes to Our Lady of Guadalupe with many different experiences of ministry. She has been active in ministry since 1990, teaching PSR at Holy Family Parish, Parma; Youth Ministry and Pre Cana team at St. Bartholomew Parish, Middleburg Heights; Youth Ministry and PSR for High School Students at St. Mary Parish, Berea and Director of Religious Education and Youth Minister at St. Francis de Sales Parish in Parma. She has also ministered to the dying and those imprisoned.
She received her B.S. in Mathematics from Baldwin Wallace in 1994 and taught high school Mathematics for 5 years in both private and public high schools. She earned her M. A. in Theological and Pastoral Studies from Ursuline College in May of 2015.
Katie lives in Berea, Ohio with her husband of 23 years, Greg. They have three daughters, Kayla (studying BioMedical Engineering at University of Cincinnati), Greta (senior at Berea-Midpark High School) and Erika (junior at Berea-Midpark High School). She enjoys music, bicycling, walking, gardening, reading and spending time with her daughters, nieces and nephews!
Mr. Don Grabowy
Donald Grabowy has served as the Liturgical Music Director for Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish since the summer of 2013. He previously held the same positions at St. Martin of Tours in Maple Heights (1983-2001) and St. Luke the Evangelist in Lakewood (2002-2013). Don is married to Heather and they have two children: daughter, Brittany (son-in-law, Will) and son, Bradley. The Grabowy’s have been memers of OLG since 2004.
