Baptism Prep

Baptism is more than a ritual — it is a sacred invitation and a powerful transformation. In the Catholic Church, baptism is the gateway to the Christian life, and its meaning is rich and deeply rooted in Scripture, tradition, and theology. Baptism is the sacrament by which we are cleansed from original sin, reborn as children of God, and incorporated into Christ’s Body — the Church. Through water and the invocation of the Holy Trinity (“I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit”), we share in Christ’s death and resurrection: dying to sin, rising to new life.

Because of the significance of baptism, it is necessary that families take part in a Baptism preparation program. You should plan to attend the class again if it’s been more than three years since you’ve participated in the Baptism Prep. Both parents are expected to attend, and godparents are encouraged to take part as well.

Baptisms are celebrated during weekend Masses, or on Sunday following the 10:30am Mass.  Please keep in mind that certain seasonal restrictions may apply.  Additionally, on First Communion weekends (the first two weekends of May), Baptisms may not be scheduled.

Preparation sessions are scheduled in February, May, August & November at 7PM; the meetings last approximately 60 minutes.
