You have asked to have your child Baptized. In doing so you are training your child in the practice of the faith. It will be your duty to bring him/her up to keep God’s Commandments as Christ taught us, by loving God and our neighbor. Do you clearly understand what you are undertaking?

We, as Church, believe it is our duty to offer you, as parents, the opportunity to fully understand the commitment you are undertaking for your child and yourselves through the Sacrament of Baptism. Along with your family and friends, we welcome your child for whom you desire baptism into the Christian Community. Baptism is far more than the washing away of original sin; it is the normative means by which one enters into relationship with Christ and His church. With this relationship come certain expectations.
Because of the significance of baptism, it is necessary that all families take part in a Baptism preparation program. You should plan to attend the class again if it’s been more than three years since you’ve participated in this Evening of Recollection. Both parents are expected to attend, and godparents are encouraged to take part as well.
Preparation sessions are scheduled in February, May, August & November at 7:30 PM; the meetings last approximately 90 minutes. The session will address practical items regarding the baptismal celebration, as well as allow parents and godparents to ask any questions and to discuss any special circumstances surrounding your child’s baptism.
So that the Baptismal Preparation team can adequately prepare for the meeting, you are asked to RSVP for Baptismal Preparation Class. You may complete and submit the form below, or you may call the parish office at 330.468.2194 x22
