Any adult of the parish is welcome to serve – whether at weekend Mass or for funerals.

Altar Servers

An important liturgical ministry is that of the Altar Server.  This ministry is open to men, women, boys and girls (fifth grade and older).  Servers not only assist at the liturgy, but also model true worship by their demeanor and participation at Mass.  Training sessions are regularly scheduled for those wishing to enter this ministry.

Art and Environment Committee

The Art and Environment Committee functions under the guidance of the Pastor and the Liturgy Commission (described below).  Through the use of flowers, fabric, candles, artwork, etc., this committee of volunteers strives to create an environment that conveys the tenor of the liturgical season being celebrated.

Cantor Program

The Cantor program is designed for those who have significant vocal training and experience and can add to the beauty of liturgy by leading the music at mass when a choir is not present. They will also act as Psalmist when the choir is present for liturgy. A cantor will ordinarily assist at three Masses per month. Cantor rehearsals take place once a month and on an individual basis.

Cherub Choir

This choir is open to all children in grades kindergarten, grade one and grade two. They rehearse on Thursday evenings from 6:00-6:30 and normally sing on the last Sunday of each month during the academic year, normally at the 9:30 or 12:00 masses.

Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic Ministers share the Body and Blood of Christ with their fellow worshippers in a dignified and reverent manner. They also bring Eucharist to the homebound and to those whose illness keeps them from Mass. To be a Minister of the Lord’s Body and Blood calls for a deep love for Christ in the Eucharist and a genuine love for brothers and sisters of Christ. The life of one wishing to enter this ministry must be lived in conformity with the norms of the church.

Funeral Choir

This funeral choir leads the singing at all funeral liturgies; they gather 40 minutes before the Mass of Christian Burial.

Junior Cantor Program

This program is designed for those youth of the Royal School program whose abilities are sufficiently developed to enable them to serve as a Cantor.  The program is tiered, meaning, the Junior Cantors start out in a group and as they progress vocally, spiritually and artistically, are then asked to sing as trio, then duet then finally alone.

Lector

Lector’s proclaim God’s Word to the Body of Christ that is assembled. Their effective proclamation reveals the God of history to those who have gathered to worship. The Lector also vocalizes the needs of the community in the Prayers of the Faithful. Those considering this ministry should have good diction, a basic comfort of standing before sizable crowds, and a strong prayer life. Before one can effectively proclaim God’s Word, one must embody the same Word. The life of one wishing to enter this ministry must be lived in conformity with the norms of the Church.

Music Ministry/Choir

The Magnificat Choir is active during the academic year. They rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7:00 until 9:00 and normally minister at the 9:30 am Mass on Sunday. The Magnificat Choir also leads special liturgies, services and other important events.

School of Catholic Church Music (SCCM)

This intensive musical and liturgical training program is geared to youth in grade three and beyond. The SCCM program meets on Tuesday afternoons from 4:00 to 6:00. Additionally, the SCCM practices with the Magnificat Choir on Thursday evenings and assists at the 9:30 Sunday Masses.

Usher/Greeter

These Ministers of Hospitality assist in welcoming everyone to our time of worship. Ushers assist the handicapped, oversee environmental aspects (HVAC), help to gather the treasures of the community, and see to the distribution of the weekly bulletin. This ministry is open to anyone wishing to greet others in the name of Christ.

Youth Instrumental Program
