Coffee & Donuts

The Knights of Columbus will host donuts and coffee on the fourth Sunday of the Summer months (and otherwise as the schedule permits).  Parishioners and guests are invited to gather after the 8:30AM and 10:30 AM Masses to socialize and grow in Christian community.  Please join us for fun, fellowship and “healthy food.”

Knights of Columbus

Knights of Columbus Council #11831 was formed on July 1, 2996 and serves the parishes of SS. Cosmas & Damian and Our Lady of Guadalupe.  Regular business meetings are scheduled on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church on Shepard Road in Macedonia at 7:30PM.  Monthly socials are usually held on the 4th Wednesday of each month.

Lenten Fish Fry

Each Friday of Lent (with the exception of Good Friday), OLG sponsors a Lenten Fish Fry. Meals are served between 5:30-7:30 PM, with the option of eating here or taking it home. Carryout orders are taken between 5:15 PM and 7:00 PM.

People of every talent are needed to assist with this event: from those who are good on the phone, to serving, to cooking, to dishwashing, to bussing tables.

Parish Groundskeepers

The Parish Groundskeepers (Garden Club) tend to the landscaping and flowerbeds at the Church and rectory. Through maintenance and improvements, they beautify the gardens of OLG. They sponsor the Spring Plant Sale, Fall Bulb Sale and other fundraisers, providing the finances to purchase flowers, trees and gardening essentials. One needn’t be a master gardener to participate in this group; one need only desire to participate in this care-taking effort at OLG.

Parish Pastoral Council

The Parish Pastoral Council is a leadership community rooted in prayer, open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, committed to patient listening and study, and working to recommend the plans and directions that will enable the parish to respond most fully to what Jesus asks of us in these times. (Most Reverend Anthony M. Pilla, Nov. 25, 1990)

The Parish Pastoral Council meets in a spirit of prayer and discernment to offer the Pastor guidance in the policies, directions and spirit of the parish. This is a consultative body that makes recommendations to the pastor. The council aims at spiritual growth of the parish community and plans ways to carry out the mission of the parish and the church. Its membership seeks to represent the interest and pastoral needs of the whole parish community.  Please consult the front of the OLG bulletin for names of current Parish Council members.

Parish Picnic Committee

The annual parish picnic is held the Sunday before Labor Day. The festivities take place on the parish grounds and have proven to be great fun for young and old alike – even in inclement weather. It is a time for OLG to celebrate its ethnic diversity.

The “price of admission” is a covered dish for the endless buffet table. The parish provides hamburgers, hot dogs, pop and coffee. While tables and chairs abound, many opt to bring their own lawn chair for assured comfort.

Whether you wish to assist with, or simply enjoy the Parish Picnic…you’ll meet new friends and have a wonderful time.

The Parish Pastoral Council sponsors the Parish Picnic. Anyone wishing to assist with the picnic may contact anyone on Parish Pastoral Council.

Volunteer Church Cleaners

Did you ever wonder how the Cheerio’s disappear, the song books are restored to order, and the Church looks good for weekend Masses?  It’s not by accident.  Each week, a team of Church Cleaners spend time dusting, vacuuming, and cleaning the church.  There are several cleaning teams of two-or-more people each.  Each team coordinates their schedule and cleans the church sometime between Tuesday and Saturday of their week.
