Baptisms

Baptisms are celebrated at Mass (when requested, although seasonal exceptions do apply.  Additionally, because of First Communion weekends, no baptisms take place within-or-outside of Mass the first two weekends of May) or following the Noon Mass.

Prior to scheduling a Baptism, parents should have attended the Pre-Baptismal Evening of Reflection (see below).

Eucharistic Adoration

(Please note: for reasons of security, visitations between 10:00 PM and 6:00AM require advance arrangements; all other hours are available without appointment. Marriage Preparation

Couples wishing to enter into the Sacrament of Marriage are asked to contact the parish office before even considering a date.  Contact with the parish office must be made at least six month before the wedding, although twelve or more months is recommended.

To be married at OLG, one of you must be of the Roman Catholic tradition.  Ordinarily, one of you should be a member of OLG.  If either party has been previously married, no plans can be made until an annulment has been obtained.

Wedding ceremonies may be scheduled on Friday evening, or on Saturday at Noon or 2:00 PM.

Parish Mission

Held bi-annually during the season of Lent in even-numbered years. The mission/retreat is an opportunity for the whole parish to come together to listen, reflect and be renewed spiritually.

Pre-Baptism Evening of Reflection

Parents, who have not participated in a pre-Baptism Evening of Reflection in the last three years, are asked to attend one prior to calling to schedule a Baptism.  The Evening of Reflection is designed to help parents reflect on the many ways they are called to instill and nurture the faith in their child.

This evening is on the first Monday of February, May, August and November.

Rosary Devotions & Benediction

Every Wednesday evening at 6:00, this group gathers to pray the rosary, read from scripture, and praise God in song.  Every Wednesday of each month, these devotions include exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and benediction.

Scripture Study

Nearly every Wednesday morning during the academic year, the Wednesday morning Scripture Study group meets at 9:15 AM.  Participants are exposed to traditional and contemporary studies of the Hebrew (Old Testament), and the Christian Scriptures (New Testament).  Through this group study of scripture, participants grow in their understanding of God’s Word as it applies to daily life.  Many topics are presented with helpful handouts and videotapes.

Additionally, the group explores the Catholic celebration of rituals and it examines the human elements of Eucharist, Liturgy and the lives of the saints.  (Coffee and bakery are available).

Stations of the Cross

This Lenten devotion is prayed each Friday of Lent at 7:30 PM.  A variety of devotionals are used, including Everyone’s Way of the Cross.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I turn to you, O Virgins of virgins, my Mother. To you I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, do not despise my petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
